Join us at The Rosewell Centre for an Advanced Hatha Yoga class. This is an energetic morning session aimed to wake you up and feel energised for the day ahead.
The Rosewell Centre encourages a holistic approach to yoga that increases awareness and sensitivity to energy, as well as improves flexibility of the spine through asanas, or yoga postures.
The Rosewell Centre has a warm and comfortable yoga studio, what we like to call our yoga dogo.
What will I be doing in the Advanced Hatha Yoga Class?
In this advanced Hatha yoga class we aim to prepare you for the Crow posture, bekasana and the headstand, sirsasana. All the preparation techniques are established first – gradually conditioning the joints and the balance.
Balances are practised as part of the active standing postures and the class is vigorous to fully warm up the body and the mind. Typically we practise sun salutation and warrior poses with an extended routine of balances and some work with the lower back and pelvis before attempting our inversions.
Then there are breathing practises known as pranayama included in your session as these are critical to your sense of well being. The conclusion of the session is a short meditation and daily reflection.
What are the benefits of Yoga?
Plenty of research has been undertaken that shows yoga to be an effective and safe way to increase physical activity levels, particularly increasing flexibility, strength and balance.
Some evidence has shown that regular yoga practice is beneficial for people with heart disease, high blood pressure and aches and pains (including in the lower back), stress and depression.
