Beginners Yoga Classes
Join us at The Rosewell Centre for Beginners Yoga classes, every Thursday between 7pm and 8pm.
The Rosewell Centre encourages a holistic approach to yoga that increases awareness and sensitivity to energy, as well as improves flexibility of the spine through asanas, or yoga postures.
The Rosewell Centre has a warm and comfortable yoga studio/ dojo.
A typical yoga class will begin with warm ups, then moves on to asanas (yoga postures) with pranayama (breathing practices), followed by relaxation and mediation.
The aim of our Beginners’ yoga class is to bring yoga to our local community and share the enjoyment of yoga with people from all walks of life and abilities.
This class is based around Hatha yoga – a focused but relaxed style – with an element of having fun in the classes. Meditation is also brought in which, along with pranayama, gives a holistic approach and brings balance and calm to body, breath and mind.
What is the Best Yoga for Beginners?
Please do not worry if you feel you are out of shape or inflexible, our beginners’ yoga instructor will recommend you begin with a gentle practice until you have built up the flexibility and strength for more challenging sequences. Once you are familiar with the basic postures, you may like to move on to our more advanced classes. The best way to know if yoga is for you is to give it a try!
How to Improve after Starting
Commitment, patience, repetition, and consistency are the keys to developing and progressing in the practice of yoga. After you have been to some our beginners’ classes and learnt the basic asanas and pranayama, we encourage you to incorporate yoga as part of your daily life for improved physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing, such as:
- Enjoy your regular yoga class
- Practise yoga safely at home and increase the length of your practice and the number of days per week that you practice
- Note down the effects a consistent yoga practice has on your body, mind, and spirit
- Learn more about yoga through reading and study and find sources of inspiration
- Make yoga friends and get involved in a community of yogis
- Adopt a yogic lifestyle
- When you are ready, move on to a more advanced yoga class
