Hatha Yoga Classes
Join us at The Rosewell Centre for Hatha Yoga classes, every Tuesday between 9.30am and 10.30am.
The Rosewell Centre encourages a holistic approach to yoga that increases awareness and sensitivity to the frequencies of energy, as well as improves flexibility of the spine through asanas (yoga postures).
The Rosewell Centre has a warm and comfortable yoga studio, what we like to call our yoga dojo, and take advantage of fine weather to practise outside when possible.
A typical yoga class will begin with warm ups, then moves on to asanas (yoga postures) with pranayama (breathing practices), followed by relaxation and mediation.
In our Hatha classes, all abilities are catered for with adaptions or alternatives for people with injuries or restrictions. We focus on the needs of the group with plenty of balances and strengthening work.
What is Hatha Yoga?
Hatha yoga is typically practised more slowly and and steadily with more static posture holds than a Vinyasa flow or Ashtanga class. Literally Hatha means ‘power’ and is more traditionally described as ‘the means of attaining a state of yoga through power of the infinite creator’ or ‘the union with the divine’, however, Hatha yoga may be considered as anything you might do with the body, including:
- asana – yoga postures (practised in any style of ‘yoga’)
- pranayama – breathing techniques
- mudra – hand gestures
- mantra – chanting or reciting
- types of visualisation.
