Become a Yoga Teacher
The Rosewell Centre has teamed up with Active Balance Yoga to deliver the Active Balance Yoga Teacher Training programme. This programme is open to anyone who wants to become a yoga teacher or who simply wants to advance their theoretical and practical skills as a yoga practitioner.
Successful candidates will receive two qualifications:
1. Yoga Teacher Diploma
2. Meditation Teacher Diploma
The yoga instructor training course covers a period of 11 weekends, one weekend per month. For upcoming dates, please see our events page.

What does the Yoga Teacher Training Programme cover?
The Active Balance yoga teacher training programme covers in detail, specific theoretical knowledge and practical skills:
Practical skills include:
• An extensive range of yoga poses (asanas)
• Specific breathing techniques (pranayama)
• Mudras (a posture that channels energy into particular chakras (plexus) and in turn affects the organs to which it is connected) and bandha (lock, involving contraction of the muscles and organs causing energy to accumulate at a particular plexus)
• Concentration and meditation techniques (dharana and dhyana)
All techniques will be studied in detail and from a balanced perspective in terms of a modern understanding of, but not limited to, anatomical alignment, indications, contraindications, preparatory poses, contraindication, follow up poses and modifications as well as the age-old values of an authentic yoga lifestyle.
Theoretical skills include:
• The anatomy of yoga – applied elements of anatomy and physiology
• The energetic anatomy – in-depth exploration of the chakras and the nadis (power lines), their influence on our wellbeing and as tools for personal development
• Yoga philosophy and how it applies to our practice and daily life
• A good understanding of Sanskrit terminology
• The art and science of teaching yoga classes
• The business of yoga: training, membership to professional bodies, insurance, licencing, current relevant legislation, marketing, professional boundaries, ethics of teaching yoga and more.
The Active Balance Yoga Teacher Training programme will focus on Integral yoga as a style; bringing together Hatha Yoga, Principles of Vinyasa, as well as Swara Yoga, Laya Yoga, Yantra Yoga, Karma Yoga and Raja Yoga.

Interest-free payment in instalments is available with discounts for early bird booking with full payment a month before the start of the Yoga Teacher Training.
Enrol on the Yoga Teacher Diploma Course in three easy steps:
1. To embark on this exciting career, request your application form from the Active Balance Yoga website.
2. If accepted onto the course, you will need to reserve your place by paying a deposit.
3. The rest of the tuition fee can be paid in full, before the start of the course, or in instalments over an eleven month period, interest-free.
Note: All payments are non-refundable and the course tuition fee must be paid in full before your certification.
Successful completion of this course will offer two certificates:
200 Hour Yoga Teacher Diploma, accredited with Yoga Alliance, and Independent Yoga Network (IYN).
and a
Meditation Teacher Certificate accredited with Complementary Medical Association (CMA) and registered as a post-graduate diploma with IYN.
During the course, you will be able to gain public liability insurance and register as a Yoga Teacher Student with the Independent Yoga Network from the fifth weekend of your course. After the successful completion of the course, you can teach yoga and meditation classes to the public, private and corporate sessions.

Stefan
Yoga Teacher Training
Stefan Cunnington, RYT 500, E-RYT 200, Dip.Med. Teacher, Course Leader and Principal of Active Balance Yoga School
Stefan’s yoga journey began in home country, Romania, where he trained intensively for eleven years during the 1990’s. He gained extensive knowledge and experience of teaching a variety of styles of yoga which underpin his current teaching practise.
In 2003, Stefan relocated to England with his wife, Teodora, to continue promoting the knowledge and practice of yoga. Since then Stefan has trained with a Power Yoga School and Yoga London (ashtanga vinyasa). He qualified in Anatomy Studies For Yoga Teachers.
He conducts yoga and meditation sessions in a challenging and fun way and is truly dedicated to supporting others to achieve their full potential.

Sue
Founder and Director
Sue Hix founded The Rosewell Centre in 1996 as a place to celebrate health and wellbeing from a holistic perspective. She has over 30 years experience of teaching healing and health practises and provides Shiatsu, Tai Chi and Yoga, as well as organising Rosewell Retreats.
In these times Sue is focusing on bringing inspiration, healing and connection, while respecting diversity of values and beliefs. Solutions to well being that are low cost and user friendly which can be shared widely to democratise transcendence into new consciousness. Key elements of focus are – regulating respiration to shift physical and psychological states, – teaching how the nervous system regulates the body – presenting learning about hormone drivers and the effect of foods or substances which change our feelings – bringing transformative music into the arena, which soothes the soul and opens us to the capacity for awe.
