Event Series: Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga

September 18 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
£20
Ariel yoga in Grantham

Hanging from our purpose built frame are two aerial yoga silks purposely designed to hold your weight.  You may have seen much longer ones in circus arts but dont be fooled by the closeness to the ground – you can still get the incredible feeling of achieving something you thought was impossible!

What is this form of Yoga?

Aerial Yoga is an exciting practise to develop strength, especially in the upper body.  It is carried out using aerial silk cloths which hang from a supporting frame and adjusted for your height or capabilities.  It is related to aerial gymnastic work and circus skills.  Stretch work can be taken to deeper levels with the assistance of the silk support.  This work can be a mental challenge as you allow the silk and the frame to take your body weight, even into inversions.

Many people enjoy the special experience of weightlessness – a suspended relaxation after a stenuous work out.

Anyone can practise this form of yoga as it can be adapted to suit your flexibility and strength level.

All sessions here at Rosewell are one to one or one to two students which means you can book a time to suit you and your friend or come along just yourself.  It is in the calendar for fridays as a reminder that it is available.

What will I be doing?

A typical session in indoors, lasts for an hour and  starts with simple warm up work for the arms and the legs progessing slowly to stronger postures.  Inversions then come into the practise and in the final part is a deep relaxation in shavasana.

Who will be the Teacher?

Sue Hix will be your teacher and guide in this practise and you will be asked to fill in a consent form before taking your session as the risk of injury is a little higher than in regular yoga.
